James Anderson
Raw, exciting but inconsistent early in his international career, James Anderson now not only heads England’s attack, he is his county's highest-ever wicket taker. He debuted as a 20-year-old in 2002 when he was called into the one-day international squad for the triangular series in Australia and made a good early impression, taking 11 wickets in his first six matches. He enjoyed further success at the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup including a player-of-the-match performance against Pakistan and his Test debut soon followed. Problems with consistency saw him struggle to keep a regular place in the team and his efforts to return were hampered by a stress fracture in his back in 2006. But 2007 was a turning point for the seamer who strung together several strong series before being named one of Wisden’s cricketers of the year in 2009. Anderson was the leading wicket-taker in the 2010-11 Ashes and has since continued to build his reputation to become one of the biggest threats in England’s attack. During England's tour of the West Indies in April 2015 he overtook Ian Botham to become England's most successful bowler.
He has launched his own menswear brand.
